Free Internet

Originally, the Bristol Wireless network was connected to a 2 Mbps broadband internet connection shared with Easton Community Centre. Currently, the network's link to the outside world is via the Broadband Media Exchange (BMEX) link up at Bristol University. BMEX offer us a potentially burstable, symmetric 20 Mbps connection; in other words, industrial grade connectivity. We're funding this by selling high bandwidth, high quality business connections to local voluntary and community organisations. Check out our BroadBand page. Due to the amount of bandwidth supplied, any surplus left over is made available free of charge to the local community.

Despite this, it is important to realise that Bristol Wireless is not simply about connecting people to the internet (look at our mission statement). We are creating a community network, which could host community services from web pages, news groups and chat rooms to TV broadcasts and radio broadcasts. If there are any budding creatives out there in the community (or budding anything elses!), why not get involved?
