Modem Help

If you need a dial up modem for your internet connection or to send faxes you will need to install one. Many internal modems are only designed to work with Microsoft Windows and are thus called Win modems, we do not advise you to attempt to install one of these. External modems will work with Linux and will be detected by the system. To connect to your Internet Service Provider you will need the username and password provided by them and their telephone number. These are entered into GNOME PPP which is a telephone dial-up program used to initiate your internet connection. Right click on the desktop to bring up the main menu, move down to Xfce, then Network, then GNOME PPP.
