MATTERS ARISING
- Vivaldi : Matt L noted that it may be possible to connect the Knowle project to Dove Street. It is not definitely possible. The residents of the flats will be asked about whether we can use them as a node. The residents will vote, but it sounds promising.
- Easton Community Centre : We have been awarded £23000 to continue proceedings in the ECC. Budgeting is on the Admin Wiki. Our computers to be removed from The Old Coop to be reused in the ECC (Action: Rich). ECC is now up and running as a node.
- Change Up : We are now on the mailing list.
- Bannerman Road : Six users are now online. People willing to go on the roof are required! It has been agreed that nobody will undertake an install on their own for health and safety reasons. Payment for each install is £50 to be split between a minimum of two Bristol Wireless members. We need to ask Voscur about health and safety implications (Action: Jim). Insurance policy to be investigated (Action: Jim).
- Strategy Meeting : Market research company has been decided upon. Sam will update next month.
- Decision Making Structure : Pete would like the email referenced in the previous minutes to be added to the minutes.
- Stock Control System : Matt M-W has written a basic stock control system. This needs to be documented (Action: Matt M-W).
- Grievance Procedure : Voscur may be a possible source for information (Action: Jim).
- Knowle Social Night : Still to be arranged (Action: Rich).
- Wiki Server Page : Work in progress (Action: Rich).
NETWORK DATABASE
Matt has written a database, however it's not yet exactly what we need. It needs work to complete (Action: Matt M-W). The network database should allow us to upgrade all the nodes in an automated fashion.
Pete demonstrated WifiDog, which looks very impressive. Matt T suggested that it would be useful to show connection speed of the user over time. Andy suggested that the central database server may be a single point of failure. Everyone agreed we should take a deeper look at it.
ACCESS TO STRUMMER (INTERNET SERVERS)
We have a webserver at Telehouse (strummer.bristolwireless.net). Access will be restricted for security purposes. We will investigate self-service web hosting on our servers to get some money rolling in to pay for them. Rich would like to get a server on the BMEX network. We have 3U of rack space that Irational will let us use in the Docklands area.
BACKBONE ROLLOUT
Rich is talking to Hillroyd, and Matt L is speccing kit required (?BackBone on the Admin wiki). In order to comply with Ofcom regulations, we need to comply with IR2007 and VNS2107. There are some implications here as far as kit purchase is required (dynamic freqency jumping and adjustable power output). Backbone sites are still flexible. Twinnell House, Dove Street, and Hillroyd are earmarked.
AOB
Re-Branding : We have four bids for the re-branding. We unanimously agreed to go with the bid from Beef. VOIP : This is now working on outbound calls to SIP and landline numbers. We're getting an inbound number soon. RONJA : We really should try this out. Rich suggested attempting to get funding for this. Everyone agreed we should build one to test.
