MATTERS ARISING
- Digital Bristol : Sean has not arranged the meeting mentioned in last month's minutes. He hopes to arrange this meeting for next week. Pete will go to the momentum group meeting.
- Beef : They have not yet been paid. Invoice is with Julien, who will send a cheque this week.
SHOULD WE BUY A BUS?
Last year, there was lots of discussion about getting some permanent transport for doing our mobile LTSP work. If we can put forward a case for a bus, we could possibly be donated a bus for this work! We need to determine where we will store it, how much it will cost to run, and other logistics. In principle, everyone agrees that this is a good idea.
INVESTING IN THE PHONE CO-OP
The Phone Co-op have very good rates for banking. Woodsy to set up wiki page. Discussion deferred until next meeting.
BANNERMAN ROAD
There is a form to return to close this project, which is almost complete. Lloyd is working his way through the final installs.
SECURITY POLICIES
Lloyd has started some notes on the Admin Wiki about security policies. We have agreed to work on the policy with a view to implementing it next month. The policy will then be implemented.
FINANCE
Pete asked if Julien could provide a written commentary on the accounts when he cannot be at the meeting. More discussion about VAT registering led to a decision to meet with Julien and/or the accountant about this matter.
AOB
- Knowle West Web : 3rd phase complete. Awaiting more funding.
- Net Gain : A scheme about planning IT strategies is starting. The first workshop has been held already, and a second is due soon. Bristol Wireless have been invited to join the workshop to display what you can do with Open Source Software.
- Backbone : Following the email confirming the backbone was working well, a big power outage caused significant damage to our kit. UPSs have been sourced to prevent this in the future. 5.8GHz kit is to be placed on Twinnell, and the old WAP54g hardware on other nodes is to be replaced with WRAP boards. Lloyd has suggested a technical management meeting to discuss this, and will put this to the grindstone to decide a date and time to hold this.
- Simply Wireless : Sam, Lloyd, and Matt are thinking of starting a company building POE client devices for deployments like the new Norwich network. The units will have a warranty, and be a sealed unit. There is the possibility that Bristol Wireless could outsource to the new company.
