MATTERS ARISING
- MySQL course: Sean reported that M6-IT's course programme had now been cancelled.
- Knowle West Web upgrade: Lloyd has now submitted the final invoice.
- Neighbourhood Renewal connections: Rich advised the meeting that Rosie had been contacted and candidates for connection are being sought.
- AGM: Woodsy has provisionally booked the hall at WCC for the morning of Saturday 7th June. He asked for suggestions for fun stuff to accompany the AGM, to which it was suggested that Ed Mitchell be contacted, whilst Sam offered to stream the event. Woodsy was asked to confirm the booking with WCC (action - Woodsy).
- Charitable status: Sean confirmed that a wiki page had been established.
- Linux Lounge: No news received from John P.
- Indymedia/cybersuite convergence: It was confirmed that Mike H had set up wiki and mailing list for the forthcoming June event as requested.
REPORTS
- Financial report: No written report was available due to Jules' absence. However, the bulk of the monies receivable for Social Source South West had been received and the evaluation report required for payment of the balance has now been submitted to BWSN.
- Recycling project report: Sam stated that Everton had been experiencing DNS problems when trying to access the new repository. This is to be referred to the list for resolution.
- UFI update: Rich gave a brief report of his meeting senior officers of UFI (Ian Clifford and Robin Jeeps) at last week's Digital Inclusion Conference in London. They are very interested in the case for open source and would like to use Bristol Wireless as a case study. Sam gave an update on Dove Street where an open AP has been set up, eliciting 2 inquiries to date re a faster connection, whose installation will be dependent on participation in the user journey.
- Unmet needs fund update: Sean stated that Jules needs to raise an invoice for Voscur for 55 machines. Sean has also been approached by Age Concern re providing cheap machines for older people via Bristol Older Peoples' Forum and will produce appropriate publicity ready for Silver Surfers' Day on Friday 25th May.
- Bridewell update: Bridewell is now online. However, on account of network problems, it was agreed not to bill them for the first month. Due their heavy VoIP usage, it was suggested they have their own trunk at some stage.
- Bristol Radical History Group: We are screening Revolution OS on Sunday 11th May as part of this week of events. Sean announced a test run would take place tomorrow (Wednesday). The library is to be used for the interactive workshop element, the bar will be open and goodies such as CDs, stickers and leaflets will be required.
- Charitable status: Copies of the text of the wiki page set up by Sean were circulated for discussion. Pete F noted that at present our funding is project related and there has been some friction re paid work. It was agreed to establish a sub-committee consisting of Sean, Rich, Pete and Woodsy to work up proposals to take to an AGM. Pete added that, in its deliberations, the work of the sub-committee should build on the work already done under the C3 performance review.
AOB
- Earthwise festival: This event clashes with the Climate Camp and one LTSP suite would be needed for each event, plus crews and dishes. According to Mike H's email of today to the list, this should not prove a problem. Acesabe likewise confirmed 2 x suites could be provided at the same time.
- Belgium: From 15 - 17 August(?) the Alternative World Cup is being held in Belgium. Some funding would be required to get the suite, dish and van there. Rich is to approach the Easton Cowboys to discuss our options (action - Rich). Whatever happens, Sean stated he and Bails were going.
- Brumcon: Woodsy gave a brief account of his visit at the weekend to Brumcon 07.5. There was a contingent of 6 people from Bristol in attendance from Chaostreff Bristol and he had the opportunity to network again with CCC contacts made at Easterhegg in Cologne. Of perhaps the greatest interest to Bristol Wireless was the presentation on LTSP given by Richard Rothwell of M6-IT.
