MATTERS ARISING

  • Job Spec : Few were completed last month. Everyone to do it this month!
  • Vivaldi : Just been paid circa £2600. There was £600 after costs (wages). Another £4000 is on the cards for a backbone link between Vivaldi (Knowle) and the current network. Sam to chase payment of the £4000.

BANNERMAN ROAD

There is possibly £1000 budget available to complete the project. Unable to roll out more APs as the hardware has changed, and we need to produce a new build. Proxy needs building, but white/black lists will be required for filtering. Costs of black/whitelists are $70USD per year.

BURIED TREASURE

They have hardware that they can donate, should we want it. We will liase with them to take what we want/need.

BUYING DSL

St. Werburgh's have accepted our offer of DSL, and will pay upfront for a year. We shall purchase a DSL line to meet this request. The Phone Coop will be our ISP. We can transfer their existing ADSL line to The Phone Coop. The Chelsea will likely order a line from us in the next few weeks. First Born Creatives would like a line from us too. We must get a line in somewhere before the Werburgh's Pipex contract expires.

WEIRLESS

£1000 is the budget, and Rich will head this up.

PC COSTS

There's a lot of work going into building PCs for the training courses, and other people. We should perhaps start charging for this. We shall charge £50 for those not doing the training courses, with a concession rate of £20.

ECC PROPOSAL

We need to write a proposal to the council to keep our node up on the ECC for the next 2 years. This will help balance the costs of install. To be worked on collaboratively on the Wiki.

OFFSITE BACKUP

A local organisation had thei hard disks stolen. We should offer an offsite backup service to local organisations. We shall offer a disaster recovery service, which shall be discussed on the list.

WORLD ON YOUR DOORSTEP

All the stalls have now gone, so we cannot have one. This does bring up the matter of a stencil for the laptops. This can be part of the beautification project! We shall task Ian C to try and get our beautification project as a project for the students in a class at UWE.

AOB

  • Trinity : We are to supply equipment and connectivity to Trinity.
  • Insurance : We need insurance to cover installs so Lloyd can do a discounted rate for our installs. Julian will investigate costs for this.
  • Accounts : They have been updated, and show an operating loss of £864 for last year. However, there is money in other budgets that was allocated to pay base costs. We need to find how much was allocated. Once decided, the management committee need to approve the accounts. Julian is updating now, and will email to those who have to approve.
