MATTERS ARISING

  • ERN: Sam & Rich have visited everyone. Waiting on the council. Two machines to be installed. 4 antennas to be fitted.
  • Website: Website was hacked a few days ago. Will be down for a few days. Security meeting in IRC tomorrow night at 20:00.
  • Accounts: Pete has found someone who can sort out accounts. He would like them ASAP to pass them on.
  • Bannerman Road School: Issues with the Vivaldi project and our machines. Volunteers required to build machines at some point in the future (possibly not before Christmas).

NETWORK TOPOLOGY REPORT

Postponed until next meeting.

BACKHAUL

  • 5.8GHz licenses have arrived. Hardware is too costly for us to use at the moment.
  • No news about bandwidth purchasing on a large scale. More options appreciated.
  • Possible link up with local community-oriented centres to supply Internet access to them. There should be enough money from this to pay for the backhaul, the remainder of which we could resell and/or use for our own needs (web server).

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

We need to manage our projects better than we are. We shall appoint project managers for each project:

  • Training: Tall Paul
  • Bannerman Road School: Sean
  • Network: Andy Documentation, rollout, and design.
  • BMEX: Pete
  • Funding: Sam nominated should he accept
  • Computer Donation: Rich Arranging sourcing machines, building, and donation.
  • Easton Residents Network: Put to list Install of kit, connection to the network, and training.
  • Cooperative Legalities: Tall Paul Check we comply with the legalities of being a cooperative (such as membership rules).

AOB

  • SPAN: Tall Paul has arranged for training courses to be run at SPAN.
  • ECDL: Tall Paul is proposing to gain a grant from the Open Source Foundation to rewrite the ECDL for Linux. It will be released under a Creative Commons license.
  • Cooperative membership mailing list required. This will be setup on the server when it's rebuilt.
  • Trinity: LTSP is setup and running well on 3 donated computers. We can have meetings there next year for free. To be confirmed.
  • Christmas drinks at the Chelsea on Wednesday 22nd.
