Network Speed

Initially, the network ran IEEE802.11b hardware. This limited us to a theoretical limit of 11Mbps, although it was less than 6Mbps in practice. We are now using IEEE802.11g hardware which is theoretically capable of 54Mbps. This is enough to stream audio and video over the network simultaneously. This is 100 times more bandwidth than a standard ADSL broadband Internet connection that you might purcahse from BT or AOL.
