Possible Boot Modes

 

The argument that is passed to the kernel to set the frame buffer for consoles may be set to many different VESA modes. Not all of them work on all kernels or chipsets. Sometimes this even causes kernel panics. You can always remove the vga=... bit of the kernel string if you want. If you want to set it to a particular mode, use one of the following values:

 Bits   640x480   800x600   1024x768   1280x1024   1600x1200 
 8   769   771   773   775   796 
 16   785   788   791   794   798 
 32   786   789   792   795   799
