Proposed Conference for Open Source in Business in Bristol 2007

Goals

  • Get more customers.
  • Convince business that open source is a viable alternative both on the desktop and in the server room.
  • LTSP as a desktop solution.
  • LAMP as a server solution.
  • Asterisk as a telephony solution.

What we need

  • Testimonies from public/private sector industries.
  • Testimonies from Enterprise users.
  • Speakers from IBM/HP RedHat/Enterprise.
  • Speakers from Bristol City Council (StarOffice deployment?).

Venue

  • We need a prestigious venue NOT the Cube/Trinity or Community Centres.
  • ??? Watershed Perhaps ????

People to get on board

  • Business West
  • Connecting Bristol/South West
  • SWRDA
  • BCC
  • Some influential civil servant types
  • People from BBLUG list who work in public sector, e.g. University / Govt Agencies

Kit we will need at event

  • LTSP server and clients (not the bricks).
  • Asterisk server and phones of various descriptions.
  • LAMP server (Drupal/CiviCRM)
  • Projectors
  • Professional looking copies of the OpenCD to give away
