Start Using Wireless

Now you have your wireless card, your first task is to install the card in your PC. The information in the box should tell you how to do this. Once installed, you need to find a network to participate in. As you're reading this, I'll assume your preferred network is the Bristol Wireless network. To connect to our network, you simply need to be within range.

Unless you are very close to a node (i.e. you can see it), you're probably going to need an antenna of some description to connect to the network. WhichAntenna will give you an insight into antennas, but to cut a long story short, you will need a directional antenna fixed in a position pointing towards the node you wish to connect to. You then connect this to your wireless card, which in turn connects you to the network.
