Connecting the streaming server

1) Connect the stream machine to the ethernet cable, and the 4-way power supply alongside the PA system, desk and compressor and turn it on.

2) Log in to it from a terminal and type "ices2 ices-alsa.xml" (this command will be in the history, as will the ssh command with the correct IP address for the stream machine).

3) Check the stream is up by visiting live1.radiovague.com in a browser, or connect to it using xmms or vlc. The log file for ices2 is /var/log/ices2/ices.log I think - a "tail" command to view the log will be in the history.

4) Connect the outputs of the compressor to the input of the stream machines sound card, connect 2 "main out" channels from the desk to the inputs of the compressor. Connect the main out jack of the PA system to channel 1 of the desk, connect the boundary microphone to channel 2 of the desk.

5) When finished, su on the stream machine and type "poweroff". Wait until the light on the stream machine dims indicating it's on standby, then unplug it and pack it away.
