Why Participate

Why do people get involved in Bristol Wireless?

Different people have different motives for participating in Bristol Wireless. They can include:

  • Geek factor: technically minded people who wish to find a project to which they can contribute their skills in their spare time;
  • Network belief: people who believe networks benefit communities;
  • Content creation: people who wish to create content (video, photography, words, music, speech) for distribution via the network;
  • Contributor/consumer: modern society is based around consumption. However, ICT tools have now made it easier than ever to make an active contribution instead of passively consuming;
  • Gain new skills: share your skills and learn others from other contributors to the project
  • Political reasons: well, we are a co-operative advocating free and open source software after all!
