Today, we live more than ever in an interlocking world where solutions have to be found by international co-operation and understanding the problems created by globalisation.

Welcome to the computer suite; it is run using Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) which is an add-on package for httpLinux. LTSP allows you to connect lots of low-powered thin client terminals to a Linux server. This means that the setup uses less power and you can re-use old and 'redundant' computers such as the laptop which you are sitting at. In this system applications such as Firefox run on the server and accept input from and display their output on the thin client display. This means that the laptop you are using has no hard drive and the processor is barely being used; every mouse movement or keyboard click is sent down the cable to the server and the data is sent back again.

We have set up this suite to be a 'bare bones' internet suite: our usual linux installs contain all this httpsoftware. We use the httpMepis operating system which is the one that we recommend and support.

If you are interested in Bristol Wireless' work or wish to hire this computer suite then please navigate around our site using the links at the top of this page.
