Local bus service to have wifi
According to the Post, Bristol’s paper of record (Ahem! Ed.), buses servicing the X1 route between Bristol and Weston Super Mare are to be upgraded with free wifi and leather seats (Kinky. Ed.).
To quote the Post:
BUSES which run between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare have been fitted with leather seats and free Wi-Fi to attract more passengers to the service.
Six buses on the X1 route have been given the upgrade at a cost of £150,000.

First Group a bit late in the game Stagecoach West (Gloucestershire & Wiltshire) has a number of commuter routes with wifi and remainder of the “Stagecoach Gold” experience!
Nearest First to now done is wifi on the A1 and A2 but First knows it can suck the South West dry

Good point. I noticed when I took the train to Stoke on Trent recently that CrossCountry Trains had installed wifi in their carriages. Great, I thought. However, when I tried to connect, I found the cheeky beggars wanted money off me for the service.
The train operating companies are already getting wealth beyond the dreams of Croesus from the travelling public in both fares and from catering without having the temerity to charge for wifi on their services too.
I think it’s more of a problem that the prices are unrealistic. For example, wifi on East Coast trains is £10 for one trip, but you can have a 1gig a month of mobile internet for £7.50 from 3, or £10 from o2 with slightly better customer service.
